The Save the Post Office Coalition speaks out against Trump USPS attack

The Save the Post Office Coalition in response to last night’s breaking news from The Washington Post— “Trump expected to take control of USPS, fire postal board, officials say

“Trump’s plans to dismantle USPS are an attack on our most treasured public institution, and its postal workers and rural America who will pay the price while greedy corporate CEOs get richer,” said Annie Norman of The Save the Post Office Coalition.

“The Postal Service is a lifeline for millions of people, especially in rural America, including everyone from people who voted for Trump to hundreds of Indigenous communities already under attack by this administration. The 250-year-old constitutionally-mandated agency has over a half-million federal employees who deliver life-saving medication and social security benefits to veterans, seniors, and people with disabilities in every ZIP code.”

“Let’s call this attack on USPS exactly what it is—a greedy corporate giveaway to people like Elon Musk, and Trump’s billionaire friends. The attempt to illegally fire the board and give control of the independent agency to Commerce Secretary and Trump donor Howard Lutnick would allow them to rip the Postal Service apart and sell the pieces to the highest corporate bidder.”

“At the end of the day, Trump’s attack on the United States Postal Service is fueled by nothing more than his own personal vendetta at USPS for being wildly successful in delivering millions of votes by mail in the election he lost in 2020.”

“The impacts will be devastating for seniors, veterans, farmers, small business owners, rural and Indigenous communities—it sure as hell isn’t what’s best for millions across this nation that rely on USPS as a lifeline.”
